40,942 at Wembley

1. NWSL Even in the off-season there is still plenty of NWSL news. With the expansion and college draft coming up there has been some movement across the league. Here are the trades that have been announced so far:

Kansas City:

  • Received Sam Mewis and NC’s natural first-round pick in the 2022 draft. In exchange North Carolina received Kiki Pickett, the discovery rights to Malia Berkley, and NC’s natural first-round pick in the 2022 draft.

San Diego:

  • Received Tegan McGrady, a 2022 international spot, and a 2022 first found draft pick from the Washington Spirit. In return the Spirit are protected from San Diego in the expansion draft.

  • Received English international Jodie Taylor from the Orlando Pride. In return Orlando will receive one of the following: 2023 natural 2nd-round pick OR 2023 natural 3rd-round pick, OR allocation money. Will receive one of those based on how many total appearances Taylor makes for the Wave in 2022.

  • Received Katie Johnson, Makenzy Doniak, and Kelsey Turnbow from Chicago. Chicago received protection from San Diego in the expansion draft along with $25K in allocation money.

  • Received Kailen Sheridan from Gotham FC. Gotham got $130K in allocation money along with protection in the expansion draft.

Angel City FC:

  • Received Sarah Gorden and Julie Ertz from Chicago. In return Chicago is protected from ACFC in the expansion draft.

  • Received MA Vignola from the Washington Spirit. In return Washington's allocated players are protected from ACFC in the expansion draft.

OL Reign:

  • Received Nikki Stanton from Chicago. In return Chicago received a 2022 third-round pick.

Gotham FC:

  • Received Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris from the Orlando Pride. In return the Pride received 50K in allocation money, 2022 first-round draft pick, and a 2023 natural third-round pick.

NC Courage:

  • Received Brianna Pinto from Gotham FC. Gotham received $125K in allocation money.


2. FA WSL (England) League Standings (Top 6)

1. Arsenal (22 pts); 2. Chelsea (21 pts); 3. Brighton (15 pts); 4.Tottenham (14 pts); 5. West Ham (12 pts); 6. Manchester United (12)


FA CUP FINAL: London was definitely blue.

  • Chelsea dominated Arsenal with a 3-0 win.

  • Fran Kirby got the scoring going in the third minute of play. Sam Kerr then had a brace to seal the deal. Her second goal was a fantastic chip.

  • Chelsea's defense was also stellar. They didn't allow Arsenal to get a shot on goal.

  • There was 40,942 people at Wembley to watch the game. There was also a 1.3 million peak audience on BBC TV.

3. Division 1 Féminine (France)

League Standings (Top 6):

Montpellier jumped Bordeaux in the table after Bordeaux has lost and tied their last 2 games.

Lyon remains undefeated at 10-0. They are in the driver's seat when it comes to winning the league due to PSG being a full 3 points behind them.

Bayern is back in second in the table after two straight wins. Hoffenheim helped them out by drawing with Potsdam right before the international break.

Barcelona remains undefeated after beating Athletic Club 4-0. Jenni Hermoso had a brace. The other two goals came from Pina and Bonmatí.

Granadilla Tenerife jumped into the top 6 after beating Rayo Vallecano 3-2 over the weekend.

Madrid CFF have fallen out of the top 6 after losing their last two games.

Juventus beat Sassuolo 2-0 over the weekend. This allowed Juventus to go 6 points ahead of Sassuolo at the top of the table. Cristiana Girelli scored both goals.

Roma jumped Milan in the table after beating Sampdoria 2-1. Sampdoria had an own goal in 90+2’ to give Roma the lead.
