NWSL Playoffs Are Set!!

Spooky Season Hit the NWSL as the Regular Season Came to a Close! Four teams were playing for the last three playoff spots. Chicago, Houston, North Carolina, and Gotham FC were all fighting for the last three spots.

1. NWSL

THE NWSL PLAYOFFS ARE SET!! Here are the seedings:

  1. Portland Thorns

  2. OL Reign

  3. Washington Spirit

  4. Chicago Red Stars

  5. Gotham FC

  6. North Carolina Courage

Playoff Match-Ups:

  • The Thorns and Reign both have a bye week. The Chicago Red Stars will host Gotham FC. The Spirit will host the Courage. The winner of Chicago vs. Gotham will head to Portland for the semi-finals. The winner of the Spirit Courage game will head to Tacoma to play OL Reign.

First Round Schedule:

  • 11/7: Chicago Red Stars vs. Gotham FC @ 3:00 PM ET on CBS Sports Network

  • 11/7: Washington Spirit vs. NC Courage @ 5:30 PM ET on Paramount+

2. FA CUP (England)

Semi-Final Recap:

  • ​Manchester City vs. Chelsea. Chelsea defeated City 3-0. The goals came from Erin Cuthbert, Melanie Leupolz, and Bethany England.

  • Arsenal vs. Brighton. Arsenal won 3-0. Their goals came from Kim Little, Beth Mead, and Leah Williamson.

Final:

  • Arsenal and Chelsea will play the final at Wembley on December 5th at 9 AM ET.


3. Division 1 Féminine (France)

League Standings (Top 6):

  • 1. Lyon (21 pts); 2. PSG (21 pts); 3. Paris FC (18 pts); 4. Fleury 91 (12 pts); 5. Bordeaux (10 pts); 6. Dijon (9 pts)

Lyon stays dominant beating Soyaux-Charente 6-1 over the weekend. USWNT midfielder Cat Macario continues to impress with another great goal. She now has five goals in seven games.

PSG has also started the season strong. They beat Dijon 3-0 over the weekend. They are currently tied with Lyon on points, but Lyon has the advantage on goal difference.

Saturday, November 13 Lyon and PSG will go head to head. It could play a big factor in who ends up winning the league title.

4. Frauen-Bundesliga (Germany)

League Standings (Top 6):

  • 1. Bayern (15 pts); 2. Leverkusen (15 pts); 3. Eintracht Frankfurt (15 pts); 4. Wolfsburg (13 pts); 5. Hoffenheim (13 pts); 6. Potsdam (12 pts)

DFB Pokal Round of 16 Results:

  • Karlsruher (1) vs. Carl Zeiss Jena (3); Bayern (4) vs. Eintracht Frankfurt (2); Werder Bremen (0) vs. Sand (1); SF Siegen (0) vs. Henstedt-Ulzburg (9); Potsdam (2) vs. Köln (0); Hamburger SV (0) vs. SGS Essen (1); Leverkusen (5) vs. Hoffenheim (4)

  • Freiburg and Wolfsburg play today at 1:30 PM ET. The winner of that game will become the last team in the quarterfinals.


5. Primera División (Spain)

League Standings (Top 6)

  • 1. Barcelona (24 pts); 2. Sociedad (18 pts); 3. Atl. Madrid (17pts); 4.Athletic Club (16 pts); 5. Levante (15 pts), 6. Alavés (14 pts)

Barcelona continues to make their case for why they could be considered the best in the world. They beat Sociedad, who are second in the league 8-1 over the weekend. Oshoala and Martens both had braces.

Oshoala now has ten goals in eight league games this season.

6. Serie A (Italy)

League Standings (Top 6):

  • 1. Juventus (21 pts); 2. Sassuolo (18 pts); 3. Milan (16 pts); 4. Roma (13 pts); 5. Sampdoria (12 pts); 6. Internazionale (12 pts)

Juventus beat Internazionale over the weekend, which bumped them to first place. They got some help from Roma as Roma beat Sassuolo to keep them at 18 points.
